We are Natural Beauty Poem

From the top of our heads to the bottom of our feet….we are natural beauty!

Our race is a rainbow of colors, coco, caramel, dark chocolate, butterscotch or a mixture of all….we are natural beauty!

Floating and swirling with a rainbow of natural textures: kinky, wavy, curly, spongy…..we are natural beauty!

Not one natural is the same, no reason to hold your head in shame…… Long, bone straight and fly away hair….Good Hair, you say?

….I think not, our rainbow of textures is all good hair…..poufy, afros, twists, locs, mini naturals…… we are natural beauty.

Pull it back, let us see your face, let us see your smile, and let us see your crown...….we are natural beauty!

Hold your head high, let it touch the sky, we are natural beauty!

  2. Love It.
It's interesting that you were drawn to script up such a real, true, NATURAL poem that embodies the beauty of a women; that is our hair, our mane, crowning glory etc.. This led me to have a conversation with a coworker on hair and learned that black women are not the only ones that have an ISSUE with GOOD hair. My co-worker is a NATURAL red head (orange/red) which I learned from her is due to a recessive gene and she is the only one in her immediate family with red hair. She began to discuss her life as a NATURAL red head and how she was ostracized in her youth by others because of her hair color (kids can be mean). With this happening she wanted GOOD hair, similar to the assumed GOOD hair of the blonds & brunettes she grew up among. She began to tell me stories of how she felt she was not considered pretty or attractive by men because in her words, “men dream about blonds, marry brunettes, and cheat with the fiery red heads.” WOW!! This statement from a very intelligent and articulate young woman that has since researched her red hair and is preparing to attend a convention in Europe for Redheads only!! She let go and grew personally.
This Poem embodies self-worth. THANK YOU for sharing.
